Who is eligible to live at New Creations?
New Creations is a home for women who are ready to live in a structured, Christ-centered home. As of now, the requirements are:
- You must be able to maintain full-time employment.
- You must have been incarcerated for four months or longer (preferably longer), or have completed a long-term rehabilitation program. A faith-based program is preferred but not required.
- No Suboxone or methadone.
- Only light, non-narcotic mental health medications. Seroquel, Adderall, and Thorazine are not allowed.
We do not discriminate by age. So far, our residents have ranged from 28 to 52 years old. See the who we serve page for more.
Is the home for women, men, or both?
New Creations Transition House is a home for women.
How long can someone stay?
The program runs six to twelve months, based on each woman's need, attitude, and progress. Extensions are not automatic: by four to five months of full-time work, a resident is expected to be saving and preparing a plan for where she will go next.
Can residents bring their children?
No. Children cannot live at the house. We encourage visits with children and will help make them happen as much as we can, but there are no overnight visits at the house.
Is there a program fee or rent?
Once a resident is employed, she contributes a modest program fee toward her stay. The intent is to build personal responsibility while keeping the home reachable for a woman starting over with limited resources.
The exact amount and timing will be confirmed here.
Are residents required to work?
Yes. Every resident is expected to gain or maintain full-time employment. We provide employment assistance, including a partnership with an employer in Perryville, and help with transportation to and from a job.
Is church attendance required? Are Bible studies required?
New Creations is explicitly Christ-centered. Prayer, Bible study, discipleship, mentoring, and involvement in a local church are part of the program rather than optional additions.
Residents attend daily Bible study at 5:50 a.m., and every required church service and recovery meeting. The full expectations are in the resident handbook.
Does the home provide counselling or clinical treatment?
No. New Creations is a faith-based transitional home, not a licensed treatment facility. We do not provide detox, clinical counselling, psychiatric care, or medical treatment. We connect residents with qualified professionals and community providers for those needs.
What happens if a resident relapses?
New Creations is a substance-free home. Use of drugs, alcohol, or any prohibited substance results in immediate dismissal. Residents agree to drug testing on entry, at random, and on return from visits.
Can residents have phones, social media, or relationships?
For the first three months, each resident uses a flip phone provided by the house, with no social media and no romantic relationships. After three months, both become her choice. Relationships follow strict guidelines: men are not allowed at the house, and staff must meet him at church first.
What medications are permitted?
Light, non-narcotic mental health medications are allowed. Suboxone and methadone are not allowed, and neither are medications such as Seroquel, Adderall, or Thorazine. If you are unsure about a prescription, call us before applying.
Can someone with a criminal record apply?
Yes. Many of the women we serve come to us directly from incarceration. Women coming from prison or jail should have been incarcerated for four months or longer, preferably longer. Full requirements are on the who we serve page.
Is transportation provided?
We provide transportation assistance for employment, appointments, church, and recovery commitments. A reliable ministry vehicle is one of our most pressing needs.
How are referrals made?
Case managers, probation and parole officers, chaplains, recovery programs, churches, and hospital social workers can start a referral using the form on the get help page, or by calling the house.
Is there a waiting list?
Women come and go at different times, so we never know exactly when a bed will open. Most of our residents stay with us more than six months, so unless someone leaves suddenly, the house stays pretty full. Send an inquiry anyway, and we will be honest with you about timing.
What documents are needed to apply?
No documents are required when you arrive. Once a woman is accepted into the house, we help her obtain her birth certificate, Social Security card, and a driver’s license or Missouri ID.
Every new resident meets with the director and signs a commitment agreement and the handbook agreement, which sets out the house procedures and policies.
How do I donate?
See the give page for one-time gifts, monthly partnership, sponsorships, and in-kind donations.
How can my church or business partner with the ministry?
The get involved page describes church, community, and business partnerships. Contact us and we will talk through what fits.
How can I volunteer?
Mentoring, life skills, meals, transportation, maintenance, administrative help, and prayer support are all needed. Start on the get involved page. Volunteers who work directly with residents complete a screening and background check.
